Overtime & Night Work Remuneration Under the Labor Code of Albania
Working hours and statutory pay supplements in Albania are codified in Chapter VII (Articles 76–91) of the Labor Code of the Republic of Albania:
- Standard Working Hours: Standard statutory workweek is 40 hours per week (normally 8 hours per day, 5 days per week).
- Standard Overtime Supplement (Article 91): Overtime work performed on normal working days must be compensated at not less than 125.0% of the regular hourly wage (or compensated with equivalent 125% paid compensatory rest time).
- Weekly Rest Day & Public Holiday Overtime: Overtime performed on statutory weekly rest days (Sundays) or official public holidays must be compensated at not less than 150.0% of the regular hourly wage.
- Night Work (Puna e Nates - Articles 88–90): Work performed between 22:00 and 06:00 is designated as night work. For every hour of night work, the employee is entitled to a statutory supplement of at least +20.0% (or +50% if overtime during night hours).
Statutory Regulatory Framework: Compliant with Law No. 29/2023 on Income Tax, Labor Code of the Republic of Albania, Law No. 7703 on Social Insurance (ISSH), and regulatory instructions issued by the General Directorate of Taxes (DPT) and Energy Regulatory Authority (ERE).
