Maternity & Parental Protection in Armenia
Maternity rights are protected under Chapter 20 of the Labor Code of the Republic of Armenia and the Law on State Benefits:
- Duration of Maternity Leave:
- Normal childbirth: 140 calendar days (70 days prenatal + 70 days postnatal).
- Complicated childbirth: 155 calendar days (70 prenatal + 85 postnatal).
- Multiple births (twins or triplets): 180 calendar days (70 prenatal + 110 postnatal).
- 100% Wage Replacement Benefit: Employed mothers receive 100% of their average calculated earnings over the 12 months preceding the maternity leave. Funded via the State Social Security Fund and offset against the employer's tax liabilities.
- Childcare Leave Until Age 3: Unpaid, fully job-protected leave is granted to parents until the child reaches 3 years of age.
- State Childbirth Lump-Sum Grant:
- 1st and 2nd child: 300,000 AMD.
- 3rd child: 1,000,000 AMD.
- 4th child: 1,500,000 AMD.
Statutory Regulatory Framework: Compliant with the Tax Code of the Republic of Armenia, Labor Code of the Republic of Armenia, Cadastre Committee statutory duties, and regulatory resolutions issued by the State Revenue Committee (SRC) and PSRC.
