📜 Gratuity Rules Under Bangladesh Labour Act 2006
Under Section 2(10) and Section 27 of the Bangladesh Labour Act 2006 (as amended):
- Tenure Threshold (Vesting): A permanent worker must complete at least 5 years of continuous service to be entitled to gratuity upon voluntary resignation.
- 5 to 10 Years Service: Entitled to 30 days (1 month) basic wages for every completed year of service.
- Service Exceeding 10 Years: Entitled to 45 days (1.5 months) basic wages for every completed year of service!
- Service Over 6 Months: Any fraction of service exceeding 6 months is counted full completed year.
- Retrenchment (Section 20): A worker retrenched for redundancy gets 30 days basic wages for each year of service irrespective of the 5-year vesting bar, in addition to notice pay.
