📜 Contributory Provident Fund (CPF) Rules in Bangladesh
Under Section 264 of the Bangladesh Labour Act 2006:
- Mandatory Constitution: When not less than three-fourths (75%) of the permanent workers in any establishment request a provident fund, the employer must constitute a Contributory Provident Fund.
- Contribution Parity: Every permanent worker contributes between 7% and 10% of their monthly basic wage, and the employer must contribute an equal matching amount.
- Board of Trustees: The fund is managed by a Board of Trustees consisting of equal numbers of representatives from the employer and the workers.
- Tax Advantage: Contributions to an approved provident fund and the accrued interest are tax-exempt, and the employee portion qualifies for investment tax rebate under the Income Tax Act 2023.
