Work Permit Structure

  • Employer Borne: Work permit fees are legally payable by the employing corporate sponsor and cannot be deducted from employee remuneration.
  • Advertising Mandate: Positions must generally be advertised to suitably qualified Bermudians, spouses of Bermudians, or PRC holders before a work permit can be granted.
  • Term Durations: 1 Year (BD$ 1,065), 2 Years (BD$ 2,130), 3 Years (BD$ 3,410), 4 Years (BD$ 4,685), 5 Years (BD$ 6,555).

Economic Investment Certificate (EIC)

  • Investment Threshold: Minimum BD$ 2,500,000 in qualifying assets held for a minimum of 5 years.
  • Rights Granted: Immediate authorization to work in the business invested in, plus right of residence for spouse and dependent children.
  • Permanent Settlement: After 5 years of holding the EIC, investors are entitled to receive a permanent Residential Certificate.
