Overtime & Surcharges under Bolivian Labor Law
Under Articles 46, 55, and 56 of the Ley General del Trabajo:
Horas Extraordinarias (+100%)
Overtime work beyond the regular 8-hour shift is paid with a 100% surcharge (double the regular hourly rate, 2.0x). Work must be authorized by company management.
Sundays & Holidays (+200%)
Work performed on mandatory weekly rest days (Sundays) or national public holidays is remunerated with triple pay (3.0x the hourly rate) if no compensatory rest is scheduled.
Recargo Nocturno (20h to 06h)
Work performed between 8:00 PM and 6:00 AM carries a mandatory statutory surcharge: 25% in commercial/office work, 30% in industrial factories, and up to 40%-50% for hazardous or women's night work.
