Question 1

How is Italian net monthly pay (Stipendio Netto) calculated from RAL?

Accepted Answer

Starting from Retribuzione Annua Lorda (RAL), subtract employee INPS social security contributions (9.19%) to obtain the taxable income base. Calculate gross IRPEF based on the 3 statutory brackets, subtract work tax credits, add regional and municipal surcharges, and divide the net annual total by 13 or 14 months.

Question 2

What is the Trattamento Integrativo (formerly Bonus Renzi)?

Accepted Answer

The Trattamento Integrativo grants up to €1,200 per year (€100 per month) for employees with total income up to €15,000, provided gross IRPEF exceeds the employment tax credit.

Question 3

Why is the net salary in a 14-month contract lower each month than in a 13-month contract?

Accepted Answer

Because the same total annual net pay is divided into 14 instalments instead of 13. However, the employee receives two extra paychecks during the year (Tredicesima in December and Quattordicesima in June/July).

Question 4

How does the tax wedge cut (taglio del cuneo fiscale) affect my paycheck?

Accepted Answer

Statutory relief measures reduce the employee INPS social contribution burden for monthly gross salaries up to €2,692 (approx. €35,000 annual RAL), increasing net take-home pay by €60 to €100 per month.

Question 5

Does severance pay (TFR) come out of my net salary?

Accepted Answer

No, TFR is entirely paid by the employer as an additional deferred component (approx 7.41% on top of gross salary) and is not deducted from your monthly net salary.
