❓ الأسئلة القانونية والتنظيمية الشائعة (FAQ)

What are the vehicle registration renewal fees (Daftar) in Kuwait?

Under the Ministry of Interior (MOI) General Traffic Department regulations, standard vehicle registration renewal fees are: KWD 5 per year for private saloon cars (KWD 15 for a 3-year renewal); KWD 10 per year for SUVs/4x4s (KWD 30 for 3 years); and KWD 15 to KWD 30 per year for commercial trucks and transport.

What is the mandatory technical inspection (Fahas Fanni) fee?

Vehicles older than three years must pass a technical roadworthiness inspection. Government traffic department inspection stations charge KWD 2.000, while authorized private testing centers charge an administrative fee of KWD 10.000.

Are new vehicles exempt from annual technical inspection in Kuwait?

Yes. Brand new motor vehicles purchased from authorized dealerships are exempt from mandatory technical inspection for the first three (3) years from the date of initial registration.

What is the mandatory third-party motor insurance tariff in Kuwait?

Under the Insurance Regulatory Unit (IRU) standardized tariff, mandatory third-party liability insurance (Ta'meen Ijbari) is fixed at approximately KWD 19.000 per year for standard passenger cars (or up to KWD 25.000 depending on vehicle passenger capacity).

Can a vehicle registration be renewed if there are unpaid traffic violations?

No. The MOI automated traffic system strictly blocks registration renewal until all outstanding traffic fines recorded against the vehicle or the vehicle owner are paid in full.
