Mauritius Maternity & Parental Protections: Workers' Rights Act 2019

1. 100% Salary Maintenance

In Mauritius, the entire cost of maternity and paternity leave is borne directly by the employer as normal continuous salary maintenance, without social security clawbacks or pay reductions.

2. Stillbirth & Miscarriage

Under Section 31(4), in the unfortunate event of a stillborn child or miscarriage, the female worker is granted 2 to 3 weeks of paid recuperation leave upon providing a valid medical certificate.

3. Paternity Entitlement

Under Section 32, a continuous male employee with at least 12 months of service receives 5 consecutive working days of paternity leave on full pay, starting on or immediately after the date of childbirth.
