Network Bufferbloat & Latency Spikes Tester
Measure latency bloat under active concurrent bandwidth pressure. Diagnose why your gaming pings spike or Zoom calls freeze during background downloads, and grade your router's queue management (SQM / CAKE).
Bufferbloat Diagnostic Test
What is Bufferbloat?
Bufferbloat occurs when network routers allocate excessively large memory buffers to packets. When a download or upload starts, queues fill up, causing pings to spike from 20ms to 300ms+, causing terrible lag in competitive games (CS2, Valorant, Fortnite) and stuttering in video conferences.

Router Optimization Advice
Run the diagnostic benchmark above to inspect whether your ISP router or Wi-Fi needs Smart Queue Management (SQM CAKE or fq_codel).
How to Fix Bufferbloat & Eliminate Gaming Lag
1. Enable SQM (Smart Queue Management)
Routers running OpenWrt, Asuswrt-Merlin, Keenetic, or pfSense/OPNsense support CAKE or fq_codel. Setting download/upload limits to 90-95% of your ISP contract eliminates 100% of bufferbloat queuing.
2. Use Wired Gigabit Ethernet
Wi-Fi introduces wireless half-duplex retry queues and channel contention. For high-stakes competitive esports, plug directly into an Ethernet LAN port.
3. QoS Bandwidth Prioritization
If your stock router doesn't have CAKE SQM, enable Quality of Service (QoS) and prioritize your gaming PC or console MAC address over TV streaming and cloud backups.
