š The LTA Depreciation Formula
In Singapore, car dealers and buyers benchmark car value using the standardized statutory paper depreciation formula:
Annual Deprec = (Purchase Price - Deregistration Rebates) / Remaining Years
- Deregistration Rebate: Equal to the 50% PARF rebate (if deregistered before 10 years) plus any unused COE paper rebate.
- Renewed COE cars: Have 0% PARF rebate when deregistered; only remaining COE can be refunded.
šļø Progressive ARF Luxury Car Tax Tiers
Additional Registration Fee (ARF) tiers penalize expensive luxury vehicles:
- First S$20,000 OMV: 100% ARF.
- Next S$20,000 (S$20k - S$40k): 140% ARF.
- Next S$20,000 (S$40k - S$60k): 190% ARF.
- Next S$20,000 (S$60k - S$80k): 250% ARF.
- Above S$80,000 OMV: 320% ARF (Top luxury bracket).
