NSSF Act 2021: Statutory Rules & Entitlements
- Mid-Term Access (Section 20A): Any contributing member who has attained the age of 45 years and has made contributions to the fund for at least 10 years (120 monthly deposits) is entitled to receive 20% of the accrued benefits.
- Persons with Disabilities: Under Section 20A(2), a member who is a person with a disability, is 40 years of age and above, and has contributed for 10 years or more, is eligible for up to 50% mid-term access.
- Age 55 Retirement Benefit (Age 50 Early): Under Section 19, full retirement lump sum is payable upon reaching age 55, or at age 50 if the member proves they have permanently retired from formal employment.
- Tax Exemption: NSSF payouts are currently exempt from income tax in the hands of the recipient upon withdrawal.
